Silver NP are the most widely applied metallic nano materials with applications spanning a wide field from antibacterial agents to electric nano conductors. A considerable % ends up in landfills. Depending on leachability of the Ag NP equipped materials, the nano silver may be released from waste and impede the bacterial communities active in the degradation of the waste. LEITAT is supporting its partners through its expertise on the safe-by-design nanomaterial product and it is performing the eco-toxicology assessment within simulated landfill of commercial products containing Ag-NPs & Ag-Nanowires.
